NewEnglandFilm.com / Stowe Story Labs Fellow Named
Stowe Story Labs is pleased to announce Amber Russell of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, is the 2016 NewEnglandFilm.com / Stowe Story Labs Fellow.
Amber's winning script MARGARET, a biographical drama, is a timely look at the rise and times of Margaret Chase Smith, a woman who moved through great personal crisis and trial to reign in the US Congress and Senate during the years both of Senator McCarthy's witch-trials and seismic societal change in America.
"I wrote MARGARET because I grew up not knowing how a woman from my own state rose to power and even ran for President. Senator Margaret Chase Smith was a woman who should not be forgotten and I am grateful to Stowe Story Labs and NewEnglandFilm.com for making me the first fellow from Maine and for helping me get MARGARET out there ."
Michele Meek, founder and Director of NewEnglandFilm.com, said, "it is a pleasure to help recognize and foster talented New England filmmakers and screenwriters through the NewEnglandFilm.com Fellowship. Again this year, we saw an impressive range of exciting projects, which always makes it challenging to choose. So many projects were fantastic. At the same time, I am very pleased to see Amber and MARGARET receive this fellowship."
Stowe Story Labs runs from September 10 - 13 in Stowe, Vermont. The Labs are a nonprofit collective working to help emerging filmmakers, screenwriters and creative producers get work made and seen.
