(Stowe and Burlington, Vermont) – April 13, 2015 – The Division of Communication and Creative Media (CCM) at Champlain College and Stowe Story Labs are pleased to announce a partnership to give one Champlain College Filmmaking student a Fellowship to the 2015 Stowe Story Labs, to be held at the Helen Day Arts Center in Stowe, Vermont, September 12-15.
The CCM Division will sponsor one student, including room and board, whose faculty-endorsed application is selected by Stowe Story Labs to take part in the 2015 Labs. The Stowe Story Labs, entering their third year, bring emerging screenwriters, filmmakers and creative producers from around the world to Stowe to focus on theme and story structure, pitching and casting, and industry collaboration and peer feedback. In addition to workshops, ‘in-conversation’ interviews with industry pros, lectures and time to work and reflect, there are evening film screenings, panel discussions, and informal cocktail receptions.
“We are delighted to form this partnership with Stowe Story Labs. This Fellowship will significantly enhance opportunities for our Filmmaking students and further reinforce Champlain College’s commitment to excellence, artistic innovation, and a radically pragmatic education, says Paula Willoquet-Maricondi, Dean of the Division of Communication and Creative Media. “This partnership perfectly aligns with the Filmmaking program’s mission to offer students a remarkable combination of conceptual engagement, technical skills, artistic experimentation, and business training that prepares them to be successful in this competitive industry.
“We are excited to partner with Champlain,” said Stowe Story Labs Director David Rocchio. “Champlain students have tremendous talent and this partnership will help a Vermont student push their work into the world in a meaningful way. We admire Champlain’s commitment not only to instruction and learning but preparing students to find work in their field, which is aligned with our mission to see quality films get made and seen by audiences,” said Rocchio.
Stowe Story Labs provides a unique opportunity to bring film and TV industry professionals and emerging talents from around the world together in Vermont.
