Stowe Story Labs and SAGindie Extend Fellowship Partnership with New Benefits for 2021
Stowe Story Labs and SAGindie are pleased to announce expanded support and benefits for the SAGindie Fellow.
Now in our 4th year partnering, Stowe’s SAGindie Fellowship is awarded annually to a top emerging filmmaker of color to attend Stowe’s Annual Narrative Lab.
New in 2021, the fellowship will include as well
A $500 travel/lodging subsidy,
An initial script read and notes from SAGindie Executive Director and Creative Producer Darrien Michele Gipson, and
Participation in a Stowe Story Labs Writers’ Retreat.
Stowe’s 4-day intensive Narrative Lab is the cornerstone of Stowe Story Labs’ programming. It is held annually in June at the The Current in Stowe, Vermont, and brings selected participants together with top industry mentors to workshop, collaborate, network, pitch, and demystify the international film and television industry. At Stowe’s Writers’ Retreats, small groups of writers receive some workshop content, but the focus of the program is on 3, 1-on-1 script note meetings with 3 different industry mentors. To learn about the retreats, click here. To learn about Stowe Story Labs Mentors, please click here.
“We love partnering with SAGindie,” said David Rocchio, Director and Founder of Stowe Story Labs. “Darrien and the team are aligned with our mission, and with this new configuration of the fellowship, we will help an emerging filmmaker of color materially advance their work and career,” he said.
“Independent filmmaking is a powerful tool to help marginalized voices tell their stories,” said Darrien Michele Gipson, SAGindie Executive Director. “We are so excited to once again partner with Stowe Story Labs to help an emerging storyteller both hone their voice and also find their way in this difficult industry,” she said.
